If speculation in the UK press is to be believed, a parting gift to Manchester United from Alex Ferguson, if this is to be his last season, could well be the double signing of Ronaldo and Mourinho from troubled Real Madrid.

Clubs around Europe have been placed on aler,t as reports from Spain are suggesting that Ronaldo has rejected the new offer from Real in preference of seeing out the remaining 2 years left on his contract. This is viewed by many as Ronaldo forcing the hand of Madrid to sell him or risk losing a large chunk of their original investment.

A contract offer until 2018 was put on the table with an increase of £10 million to £15 million per year. This was reportedly rejected by the Portuguese superstar which suggests he has become increasingly unhappy in the Spanish capital.

PSG, Manchester City, will be monitoring the situation closely as both clubs certainly have the finance to bring not only Ronaldo but the under fire Mourinho as well.

Ronaldo has stresses that a move back to United would be his first motivation and with the career of Sir Alex Ferguson coming to and end this could be the dream double swoop United fans would want.
