Granada dent Barcelona’s title chase, Real keep pace with Atletico

Real Madrid drew level with Atletico Madrid at the top of La Liga while Barcelona suffered a shocking loss to Granada to leave the La Liga title race hanging in the balance.

In the Andalusian capitol, Barcelona complete a terrible week after being knocked out of the Champions League when they were beaten 1-0 by struggling Granada.

Brahimi got in behind the Barca defence to fire home the only goal of the game to boost their survival hopes and move them 6 points clear of the relegation battle.

The stunning loss leaves Barcelona on 78 points 2 behind the leaders who take on Getafe today.

Real Madrid took full advantage of Barcelona’s misfortune when they powered to a 4-0 win over Almeria at the Santiago Bernabeu. Despite the absence of Ronaldo the Madrid giants hammered home the initiative with a clinical display, Di Maria opening the scoring to give Real a slender 1-0 lead at the half.

Gareth Bale doubled the advantage early in the second half for his 19th goal of the season while Isco and Morata completed proceedings to give Real the points.

In other action, Villarreal registered a 1-0 win over Levante while Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad played out a thrilling 2-2 draw.
