Real Madrid’s title hopes were severely dented when they lost their second consecutive league match on a night that saw both of their title rivals secure 3 points.

A brace from Carlos Bacca gave Sevilla a stunning 2-1 win over Real Madrid, a second loss in a row for the Madrid giants after being beaten by Barcelona on the weekend. Real have spent most of the season doing very little wrong however the last 4 days has seen Carlo Ancelotti’s team surrender the title initiative to bitter rivals Barcelona and Athletico Madrid.

Barcelona and Athletico both secured the points after wins over Celta Vigo and Granada respectively.

Barca eased to a 3-0 win over Celta thanks to a Neymar brace and another from Messi while Diego Costa headed home the only goal of the game against Granada.

Athletico now hold a 2 point advantage over Barcelona who moved into second ahead of Real a point further back.
