Azarenka and Sharapova remain on a collision course in Beijing

Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova both advanced in straight sets to remain on course to to renew their rivalry in finals.

Sharapova defeated Slovenian qualifier Polona Hercog, 6-0, 6-2, while Azarenka made light work of Elena Vesnina 6-3, 6-3, both women still have yet to drop a set.

No. 5 seed Kerber also advanced at the expense of Wozniacki in 3 sets, while China’s Li Na also neede 3 sets to defeat Peng Shuai.

Na will now be tested against Radwanska, while Sharapova takes on Kerber.

In the mens draw Richard Gasquet was shocked by local boy Zhang Ze, the biggest win of his career, and will now face Florian Meyer.

Feliciano Lopez, Youzhny and Querrey also advanced following wins against Lu, Anderson and Seppi respectively.
