Brisbane, Australia ( – Victoria Azarenka was an easy
second-round winner Wednesday at the Brisbane International.

Azarenka, the 2009 Brisbane winner and runner-up in 2008, posted a 6-3, 6-1
victory over Australia’s Casey Dellacqua. The native of Belarus will try for a
third straight Australian Open title later this month. She also won two other

Next up for Azarenka will be Switzerland’s Stefanie Voegele, who advanced in a
walkover. Seventh-seeded German Sabine Lisicki was unable to play because of a
stomach illness.

Pavlyuchenkova retired in the second set with a left leg injury. Kerber had
built a 6-2, 4-3 lead when Pavlyuchenkova, last year’s Brisbane runner-up,
called it quits.

The quarterfinals are on tap for Thursday.

In addition to the Azarenka-Voegele match, Kerber will meet fourth-seeded Serb
Jelena Jankovic, top-seeded Serena Williams will take on Slovakia’s Dominika
Cibulkova and third-seeded Maria Sharapova will face Estonia’s Kaia Kanepi,
