Li, Peng reach Shenzhen final
Shenzhen, China (SportsNetwork.com) – Top seed and defending champion Li Na
and fifth-seeded Peng Shuai were the winners in the semifinals on Friday to
set up an all-China final at the $500,000 Shenzhen Open tennis event, a
hardcourt Australian Open tune-up.
The 31-year-old Li got past German Annika Beck 6-1, 6-3 at Shenzhen
Longgang Tennis Center.
The 2013 Aussie Open runner-up Li will face Peng, who didn’t even need
to take the court as American Vania King retired before the match began.
The world No. 3 former French Open champion Li won last year’s inaugural
Shenzhen title by beating Czech Klara Zakopalova in the finale.
