Serena Williams underlined her status as firm favourite for the French Open when she crushed Sara Errani 6/3, 6/0 in the final of the Rome Masters.

It was the world number 1’s third win of the year following victories at Brisbane and Miami and a 60th in her illustrious career to date.

Errani was trying to become the first Italian to win in Rome since Raffaella Reggi in 1985, fell to 0-7 lifetime against Williams.
